Kids Shoe Stores - Where Can I Purchase Shoes For Children?

By Jake Chambers

At the rate children's feet grow there is an undeniable call for choices where kids shoe stores are involved. Whether there is an immediate demand for sports footwear, dress shoes for a special occasion, or simply a couple of sneaks for school, it is vital that parents know all obtainable choices for where they can buy kids shoes.

Of course there are also a few contributing aspects when selecting a shoe retailer. Occasion, cost, supply and shoe size are just a few of these, so a parent must first determine the need of the child based upon the occasion. In doing so, parents could have a better idea of where they will shop, and the geographic availability of the specific store. For example, if there is an upcoming wedding where the child will be ring bearer and is looking for a more formal shoe, kids sneaker stores such as Journeys Kidz or perhaps Finishline won't be of much use in any way. These two stores are usually more aligned to the stylish and high-end sneakers, some of which are classified as "skater shoes".

Kids Shoe Stores Journeys also provide to the consumer basic name brand shoes just like Nike, Reebok, Puma, Sperry, Vans, Converse and Keds. However when it is kids dress shoes that are being wanted, a parent might go to Payless Shoes, Wal-Mart, Target or perhaps the local mall to find what is suitable for the formal occasion. For formal shoes, Famous Footwear and Nordstrom can be accessed in local stores as well as online. Nordstrom is a clothing and shoe "department" store, however as far as kids shoes are concerned, they have informal, sandals, sneakers, as well as dress shoes such as Kenneth Coles and Michael Kors brands. So far as cost efficiency goes, Payless and Wal-Mart will far outbid the mall, and typically carry all kids shoe sizes. Wal-Mart carries a virtual plethora of kids dress shoes. These range from girls' flats, Passport pumps and sandals, to boys' Spencer's, Dr. Scholl's, Oxfords and George patent leathers.

There are kids though, who have inclinations toward really abnormal shoe sizes, whether this is too small or very, very large. In the case of the latter of these, parents generally find themselves seeking small adult shoe sizes for their child's extra large feet. I see that the off sizes can very often be found at Burlington Coat Factory when this dilemma happens.

Quite often, availability of shoe retailers matters, particularly for rurally located families who are geographically distanced from the more common stores. Perhaps one's schedule is really where there just isn't time to go to an offline store and while Wal-Mart stores can be found in most cities, there will still be a lot of an instance where shopping at kids shoe stores online is more convenient for the parent. Regular growth and normal wear and tear are the primary contributing factors to needing to purchase kids shoes. Sneakers are what is comfortable, ideal for school, and most of all, what's "in" for the child.

Also, school sports also dictate the kind of shoe the child might need, whether this be a cross trainer, a running shoe, or a basketball high-top. High end sneakers can be purchased in stores such as those mentioned above, but will cost a pretty penny when compared with Wal-Mart and Payless Shoes. Individuals are by no means limited to physically traveling to Wal-Mart, Payless, Sears and other major department store chains, because each of these has a website wherein shoes can be purchased and then shipped to an address.
