The Ten Commandments List Explained

The Ten Commandments are an archive of religious teachings regarding God's basis on ideals and honor. These religious concepts are an important and fundamental purpose in Judaism as well as most sects of Christianity. The ten commandments instruct to worship God and to relax on the Lord's day. The Ten Commandments also forbid any sort of worshipping idols, cheating, blasphemy, manslaughter and theft. There are a couple variants of the Ten Commandments list as they are viewed and translated in different ways by the many types religious groups.

The Ten Commandments is spoken of two times in the Hebrew Bible. As said in the Exodus, God engraved The Commandments on two tables of stone and gave them on Mount Sinai to Moses.

It is disappointing how many Christians and Jews say that they know the ten commandments list yet either don't know them or have some very incorrect. This is why we have put up the list of the New Living Translation variant of the Ten Commandments List.

They are as follows: 1. "Don't love any gods besides me." 2. "Thou shall not create gods of any type" 3. "Don't misuse the name of your God" 4. "Don't forget to observe the Sabbath by keeping it holy..." 5. "Honor your mom and dad" 6. "Do not kill." 7. "Do not engage adultery." 8. "Thou shall not thieve." 9. "Do not swear falsely opposite your neighbor." 10. "Thou shall not covet your neighbor's objects."

You can read all of them on our new site. You shall also discover extremely precise information on the exact message of each commandment. Do not, like most people, not understand the commandments. With your newly found understanding of the list and its commandments you will now able to correct your friends or family.

It is extremely important for people to know what the ten commandments really convey. A lot of people who see themselves as religious are unable to name them.
